UCLA History Project

The UCLA History Project is capturing and recording a full account of our beloved alma mater, from its humble beginnings to its current standing as one of the world’s most prestigious public research universities. We invite all Bruins – and the extended UCLA family – to be a part of this endeavor. Much of the material gathered will serve as background for a book on UCLA's history to be published in fall 2009.

While you await your own book, you can explore pages devoted to different aspects of UCLA history, including a Timeline, Photo Gallery, Traditions, Songs, Bruin Stories and This Month in UCLA History.

You also can contribute to the UCLA History Project by helping us identify photos and sharing your own memories of your University.
