Advocacy

Advocate on Behalf of UCLA
Alumni advocates have played a vital role in shaping UCLA throughout the university's history. The UCLA Alumni Association itself grew from efforts by students and new alumni in 1925 to support efforts to build a new campus in Westwood.

As UCLA grew, so did the influence and support of alumni. Alumni advocates played a role in establishing graduate studies at UCLA, securing independence from UC Berkeley and founding the engineering school and medical center.

Alumni advocates are as important today as they were in UCLA's early years. With state and federal funding dramatically decreasing, advancing UCLA's welfare has become a crucial job. As an advocate, you can be UCLA's voice to various government sectors, communicating pressing issues, proposing policy, educating and creating understanding of and support for our University. Projects include UCLA Day at City Hall, UCLA Day in Washington, D.C. and the UC Day Conference in Sacramento.
