PRIVACY AND USE
UCLA External Affairs maintains all records and is responsible for updating data. The UCLA Alumni Directory, UCLA Career Network, Class Notes, online communities and all online functionality are for official University and Alumni Association use, and also for individual communication of a personal nature between alumni listed therein.

This Web site and any information included is for personal use only. Any information relating to alumni for any other purpose, including but not limited to, reproducing and storing in a retrieval system by any means, electronic or mechanical, photocopying or using the addresses or other information for any private, commercial or political mailing or contact, is strictly prohibited, is in direct violation of copyright and would constitute misappropriation of corporate property.

The UCLA Alumni Association is bound by the 1977 California Information Practices Act, which requires that individuals being asked to supply information about themselves, be made aware of the following: UCLA is requesting this information for the sole purpose of updating the general resources and references of its University External Affairs departments.

All information contained herein remains the property of the UCLA Alumni Association. The data contained on this Web site may not be reproduced in whole or in part by any person or entity without the express written permission of the UCLA Alumni Association. The UCLA Alumni Association and University External Affairs have attempted to verify and correctly state the information contained herein. However, the UCLA Alumni Association and University External Affairs disclaim all liability and responsibility for the accuracy of this information. In addition, circumstances may have rendered some information herein obsolete prior to the date of the publication or prior to the time the information is reviewed by the reader. YOUR PRIVACY MATTERS

The UCLA Alumni Association has adopted these guidelines to ensure customer privacy and protect personal data.

1. Information Collection and Use

We will ask you when we need information that personally identifies you (e.g., profile information) or allows us to contact you. Such information may be requested when you register to enter a contest; join the Alumni Association; update your membership profile, passwords and official alumni records; register for a service; or access functionality that is specifically programmed for degreeholders. Your profile information may be used for the following purposes:

  • To make the site easier for you to use and navigate
  • To help you quickly access services or information on www.UCLAlumni.net
  • To help us create content relevant to you
  • To alert you to site updates, new features and Association-related benefits and offers

2. Profile Information Specification

If you choose not to provide profile information, you will still be able to access content. However, you will not be able to access areas or sources that require profile information.

If you decide to provide profile information, you will be able to select the information you wish to receive from the UCLA Alumni Association in the future. You also will be able to select the personal information you want to be made available to Association members or other degreeholders via the UCLA Alumni Directory, the UCLA Career Network, and other UCLA Alumni Association online communities.

3. Personal Information Updates

We provide you with the means to ensure that your personal information is correct and current. You may review and update this information at any time in the MyAccount section. There, you can view and edit personal information you have already given us.

4. Security

www.UCLAlumni.net protects the security of your personal information and honors your choices for its intended use. We carefully protect your data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure, alteration or destruction. Personal information will be used for UCLA Alumni Association business purposes only.

When you log in, you will be asked for an e-mail address and password to authenticate you for security purposes. Your Association login also allows access to members- or degree-holder-only sections of www.UCLAlumni.net.

As mentioned above, every registered customer has a unique personal profile. Each user is assigned a unique member identification or alumni ID number, which helps us ensure that only you can access your profile.

When you become a member, we create your profile, assign a member identification number and send this member identification number to you on your UCLA Alumni Association Membership Card.

Once you have logged in for the first time, you may set up a personal security password in the MySecurity section. This allows you to log in to the Member Login without having to remember your member identification number. The security of this password is completely dependent on you, the user.

5. Affinity Partner Mailings

You have the right to control whether you receive product or service information from our affinity partners. Read more.

6. Feedback

If you believe www.UCLAlumni.net has not adhered to the principles above, please notify us by e-mail at Alumni@UCLAlumni.net. We will do our best to determine and correct the problem promptly. Be sure the words “Privacy Policy” appear in the subject line of your e-mail.
